A homeless man will serve 30 days for contempt of court after an outburst Tuesday morning during a hearing in St. Joseph.
Joseph Wilson, 54 is being held on a misdemeanor trespassing charge in Buchanan County for allegedly kicking in the door of a home and going inside.
During a video conference Tuesday, the prosecutor was explaining the incident to see if the judge should reduce bail when Wilson lost his temper. Wilson cursed at the judge and prosecutor, threw down the phone and walked off screen. Associate Judge Keith Marquart asked the deputy to inform Wilson he was being held in contempt of court. Judge Marquart ordered a 30-day jail sentence. That had the additional effect of pushing back the trespassing case to July.
