The St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their first loss at home this season as they fell to the Joplin Outlaws Thursday night 5-1 inside Phil Welch Stadium.
St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team drops to 6-2 and they’re 3-2 in MINK League play.
The Mustangs scored first as they took a 1-0 lead on an Easton Fortuna RBI ground out in the second inning, but that was all St. Joseph would get.
Joplin answered with two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead and they added three in the sixth.
Josh Monson suffered the loss for the Mustangs as he allowed two runs on just two hits in five innings of work. Monson struck out six and walked four.
St. Joe had just six hits Thursday night and they were all singles. Joshua Lincoln, Brady Anderson, Drew Standifer, Derek Hussey, Pat Dillon and Kaleb Reid each had a base hit.
The Mustangs play game two of their three-game series with Joplin tonight at Phil Welch Stadium. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
