The Independence Police Department has identified the victim of a train versus pedestrian incident from last week as a St. Joseph man.
20-year-old Da’Jour J. Lucas was identified Monday as that victim. According to a news release, on June 14 shortly before 4 a.m. officers with the Independence Police Department were called to a pedestrian hit by a train on the railroad tracks under Missouri 291 Highway north of E. 39th St. When officers arrive they located Lucas deceased.
One of the southbound Missouri 291 Highway lanes was shut down during the morning commute temporarily while police detectives and personnel from the Medical Examiner’s Office were on scene.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the case is still an open investigation.
