1943-2017

Anita C. Doss, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at her home.
She was born July 6, 1943 in Mound City to Glen and Anna (Hosfield) Graham.
Anita enjoyed horseback riding and fishing. She loved animals and also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include daughter, Anita Butler (John Ewart); son, Garland Graham; grandchildren, Kirstin Auxier, Ashley Auxier (Steven) and Heather Wilson (Trevor); great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kenzie, Zayden, Kayzden, Prestyne and Pryor; mother, Anna Lee Surritte; brother, David Surritte (Diane); aunt, Lola May.

Frances Loree Miller
1930-2017

Frances Loree Miller 86, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at her home. She was born December 26, 1930 in Bethany, MO, daughter of the late Helen and Glen Hall. She worked with her husband as the owner and operator of Millers Fireworks in DeKalb, Missouri. She could do anything, enjoying crafts, gardening, and traveling. She was loved by many and will be missed by all, and was a member of the Methodist faith. Frances was preceded in death by husband, Robert Earl Miller, her parents, a son, James Miller, granddaughter, McKynlee Hall, brothers, Raymond and Donald Hall. Survivors include, sons, William “Bill” E. Miller (Barb Derrick), Wathena, KS, Steven (Rita) Miller, Kansas City, MO, daughters, Cheryl Berry, St. Joseph, MO, and Deborah Valencia (Ken Larabee), St. Joseph, MO, brother, Everett Hall of Arizona, and sister, Loretta Albertson, Mound City, MO, 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren,.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Pastor David Jordan officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery, DeKalb, Missouri. Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers to the DeKalb Christian Church.

Rusty Lee Mignery
1972-2017

Rusty Lee Mignery 45, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Branson, Missouri. He was born March 4, 1972 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Marsha and Ray Mignery. He worked for Pine Valley Contracting, as an operator. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the Chiefs and the Royals. He was a Pentecostal. Survivors include, parents, Marsha and Ray Mignery of St. Joseph, MO. daughters, Morgan Mignery (Brent Kimler), and Miranda Mignery both of Saint Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Kali Ray Stocking, Tyler James Violett Jr., and Thea DaNiece Kimler, brothers, Ray (Angie) Mignery Jr., Alan (Tristy) Mignery, and Jay Mignery, sister, Stephane Lynn Mignery all of St. Joseph, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2:00 PM on Thursday with funeral services to be conducted at 2:00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Rusty Mignery Memorial Fund in care of Rupp Funeral Home.

Bret Marion Richey
1960-2017

Bret Marion Richey, 57, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born March 1, 1960 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Mary and Vernon Richey. He graduated from Lafayette High School Class of 1978, he worked at Mead Products 22 years as a Machine operator. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting, and he was a Christian. Bret was preceded in death by his mother Mary Richey. Survivors include, father Vernon Richey, Cameron, MO, daughters, Ashley Richey (Sean Grippando), Atchison, KS, Amanda Richey, Amber Richey, and Aerielle Richey all of St. Joseph, MO, 11 grandchildren, brothers, David (Judie) Richey, Kansas City, MO, Bart Richey (Ka Vue) Fresno, CA, and Rick (Tammie) Richey, Florence, SC, and his former spouse, Penni Richey.
Memorial services will be conducted at 5:30 PM Thursday at the Rupp Chapel, following the memorial service the family will receive friends for Dinner at the Castle Bridge Event Center on 59 highway, and don’t forget to bring your fishing pole for one final cast out. Mary Lou Rutti
1935-2017

HOLTON – Mary Lou Rutti, 82, formerly of Marysville, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

She was born June 7, 1935 at Humboldt, Nebraska, the daughter of Orval and Thelma Spalding Cudney. She graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1952.

Mary Lou had worked Downards Grocery Store and at Tension Envelope in Marysville.

She was a member of the Marysville Garden Club, Order of Eastern Star, Pony Express Riders, and the Auxiliary to the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, all at Marysville.

She married Don Eckart. They were divorced. She married Milan Rutti in 1978. He died in October of 2008.

Survivors include a son, Donald Max Eckart, II, Topeka; two daughters, Cora Sue Kramer and husband Bob, Holton and Jody Ellen King and husband, Stephen, Riverside, MO; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Mary Lou will lie in state Thursday at the funeral home where family and friends will meet from 10:00 a.m. Friday until service time. Rose Mary Rohrer
1920-2017

Rose Mary Rohrer 97, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 in a Saint Joseph, MO health care center. She was born January 29, 1920 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Margaret and Andrew Kline. She worked at St. Patrick School as a food service manager. She was an award winning Quilter, and was a 50 year member of St. James Catholic Church. Rose was preceded in death by husband, Louis Patrick Rohrer, Sr., her parents, a son, Neil Rohrer, brothers, Robert, Charles, Leroy, George and Bill Kline, step brother, Vincent Gabriel, a sister Lorene Miller, and step sister, Marie Bauman. Survivors include sons, Louis P. Rohrer, Jr., Ballwin, MO, and Roger (Renee) Rohrer, St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Carol Rohrer of the home, granddaughter, Jennifer Rohrer, sister, Betty Tymson, St. Joseph, MO, numerous nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 10:00 am at the St. James Catholic Church, The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm, Wednesday with the family to recieve friends until 8:00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery . Memorials are requested to the St. James Renovation Fund.

John Christian Cathcart
1985-2017

New York, NY John Christian Cathcart, 32, passed away surrounded by his family on June 22, 2017.
John was born on March 27, 1985 in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from Central High School, earned his undergraduate degree in Film Production from Webster University in St. Louis, MO and his Master’s Degree in News/Documentary Film from NYU. He married Louisa Brown Armstrong Cathcart on June 4, 2017 in New York City.
John worked as a graphic designer at Selby Hardware, and as an independent videographer for various events in New York City. He created documentary films to tell other people’s unique stories of overcoming life-changing trials. He published his own story in “Hotpants a Memoir,” and was currently working on a new novel called, “Gospel Farm.” He had featured articles in “Neurology Now” and “Bridges” magazines.
John volunteered to help other cancer survivors as an active supporter of “First Descents,” “Cancer to 5 K,” “Imerman Angels” and “Angelight Films.” He was a featured speaker at cancer fundraising events; Relay For Life, Make A Wish Foundation, Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital Annual Survivor’s Conference, and the Comedy for Chloe Comedy Show. He was an active member of Liberty Church in NYC and volunteered in various capacities. He was previously very involved in the youth program at Wyatt Park Baptist Church in St. Joseph, and became a counselor for both Spark Weekend and Wyatt Park Summer Camp.
Many of John’s dreams were fulfilled: an award was created by Central Cross Country Coaches to honor him and to be given annually to a runner who handles adversity with courage and perseverance; he ran the Denver Marathon; he participated in and won awards at several film festivals, he created documentary films and musical videos that were meaningful (favorites were “Starting on the Right Foot,” “Pancake The Musical,” and “Brain Cancer Rap”); he acted in the movie “Cider House Rules.”
John loved life and his favorite pastimes were playing Ultimate Frisbee, long distance running, dancing, cooking and entertaining people, literature, music, art, spending time with his family and his beloved wife Louisa.
John is survived by his wife, Louisa, his father and mother, David (Rocky) and Jane Cathcart, his two sisters, Kristin (Josh) Hamilton, Casey (Russell) Sale, his nieces Grace and Kaitlyn Sale, Lucy Hamilton, his nephew Isaac Hamilton, and his grandmother Grace Hearn.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Wyatt Park Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Cathcart will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service.
