Crash with horse and buggy sends driver to hospital

A Stanberry man was seriously hurt when his horse and buggy were hit from the rear by a motorist in Gentry County Friday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrols says Christian Lee, 39, was driving south on U.S. Highway 169 just north of Stanberry at 12:15 pm Friday when his buggy was hit from behind by another vehicle. The impact ejected Lee, and forced the buggy into a ditch.

Lee was transported to Gentry County Hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The other driver, identified as Milton Pratt, 64, of Stanberry, was not injured in the crash. Authorities say he fled the scene of the accident but was later arrested about thirty minutes later in Harrison County.

According to an online arrest report, Pratt was behind bars in the Harrison County Jail on a 24 hour hold for investigation of second-degree assault and felony leaving the scene of an accident.
