Mary Gail Roberts 69, Saint Joseph, Missouri died Friday, June 30, 2017. Born November 16, 1947. Preceded in death by husband, Isaac Roberts, parents, Calvin & Dorothy Weekly, son, Scotty Weekly, brother, Dale McCullough, sister, Lillian Brotherton. Survivors include granddaughter, Courtney Marie Weekly, niece, Christi McCullough. Cremation under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. There are no scheduled visitation or memorial services at this time.

John Earl Mooney
1932-2017

John Earl Mooney 84, of Rosendale, formerly of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in a Saint Joseph health care center. He was born July 28, 1932 in Savannah, Missouri, son of the late Bessie & Marion Roberts. He worked as an over the road Truck Driver. He was a member of Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church. John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susie Mooney, step-son Charles Lee Wilson, and step-daughter, Tammy Daniel. Survivors include wife, Alberta Mooney of the home, sons, Earl Mooney and Billy Mooney, daughters, Shirley Mooney and Linda Mooney, step-sons, Glenn Wilson, Jr., Kenneth Wilson, and Mark Wilson, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church. He will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the John Mooney Memorial Fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Christon Danielle Chambers
1986-2017


Christon Danielle Chambers 31, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in St. Joseph. She was born June 27, 1986 in Osage Beach, Missouri, daughter of Carlin & Daniel Chambers. She worked at Mike Rose Roofing in the Office. She attended Culinary School in Kansas City. Christon was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Myer, and father, Daniel Lee Chambers. Survivors include mother, Carlin Blair, St. Joseph, MO, brothers, Clinton Eastwood, Macks Creek, MO and Chris Mickey, Nashville, TN, daughters, Peyton Rose Chambers and Madison Lee Moore, son, Mason A Myer, companion, Jeff Myer, St. Joseph, MO, and James Moore of Iowa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday with a Celebration of Christon’s Life to begin at 7:00 PM, Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Christon Chambers Memorial Fund in of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Lillie Marie Blevins
1920-2017


Lillie Marie (Colley) Blevins passed away July 1st, 2017, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha. Lillie Marie was born in Troy, KS on February 7th, 1920 the oldest daughter of Wm Everett Sr. and Verlie Mae (Clary) Colley, who both precede her in death.

She started school in Troy a year ahead of others her age. When the family moved to the Highland area, she attended the Jeffers country school. She graduated from Highland High School in 1937.

Lillie Marie and Leonard Blevins were married on November 20, 1937. They lived and farmed in the Highland area for many years. They were married 66 years when he passed in May 2004. Lillie Marie is also preceded in death by infant son, Eddie Wayne, a granddaughter Leigh Ann (Blevins) Twombly, sister Geneva Wagner, and a brother Wm Everett (Bud) Colley, Jr.

Lillie Marie was baptized and a life long member of the Highland Christian Church. She was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, a charter member of the Progressive Club, and a member of Eastern Star. She loved to cook and was employed in the Highland Elementary and High School Cafeterias and later at the Highland Community College Student Union. She was a loving wife, Mother, and Grandmother. All who knew her loved her sweet smile.

Lillie Marie is survived by four sons, Larry (Sharelle), Jerry (Carol), Mike (Pam), Jim (Patty) all of Highland, and one daughter Judy (Owen) McCourt of Topeka. Also she is survived by 21 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. One sister, Betty French of Hiawatha and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Colley of Highland also survives.
A Celebration of Lillie Marie’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, at the Highland Christian Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 until 4:30 Thursday. The family will meet with friends from 6 until 7:30 at the Highland Christian Church.

Jason Acton
1976-2017

Jason Acton, 41, Mound City, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Oregon Care Center.
He was born October 3, 1975 to Doyal and Joetta (Kurtz) Acton, Jr., in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Jason was a member of First Christian Church of Mound City, Mound City volunteer fire fighter and EMT, a “lumberjack” and a certified Conceal and Carry instructor.
He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and being on the river. He also had a love for guns, and spending time with his family.
Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Doyal and Darlene Acton, Sr.; and maternal grandfather, Reed Kurtz.
Survivors include son, Austin Acton, Mound City; daughter, Eryn Acton, Columbia, Missouri; father, Doyal Acton, Jr., Forest City, Missouri; mother, Joetta Davis (Phil), St. Joseph; step-mother, Carla Acton; brothers, Jeremy Acton (Maranda), Levi Acton; sisters, Crystal Sims (Dwight), Chelsea Acton; grandmother, Pauline Kurtz; girlfriend, Darci Grafton; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; former spouse and mother of his children, Kerri Nauman.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Mound City High School Multipurpose Building. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri. The family will gather with friends 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Roger Brooks
1933-2017


Roger “Skeet” “Grizz” Brooks 84, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 in St. Joseph, MO. He was born June 8, 1933 in Weston, MO, son of the late Gladys and Hallie Brooks. He graduated from Benton High School Class of 1951, and he was a member of the IBEW Local 545 for 65 years as an Electrician for 45 years. He also was the Business Manager for the local for 6 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Vivian Joyce Brooks, son, David Allen Brooks, companion, Sis Petro, brother, Warren Brooks, and a sister, Louise Magee. Survivors include sons, Roger (Susan) Brooks and Kenny (Tammy) Brooks both of St. Joseph, MO, daughters, Cathy (Everett) Lewis, Lake Jackson, TX and Diane (Randy) Dudik, Saint Joseph, MO, former wife, Loretta Brooks, St. Joseph, MO, brothers, Hallie Brooks and William (Phyllis) Brooks both St. Joseph, MO., five grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services and Interment will be conducted on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Memorial Park Cemetery, under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Randy Scott Ranger
1949-2017

Randy Scott Ranger, 68 of Atchison, KS passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Atchison Hospital.

Graveside service will be 10:30 AM Monday July 3, 2017 at Sunset Memory Gardens Committal Shelter, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Randy was born June 17, 1949 in Windsor, Canada, the son of Alfred Ranger. He was a foundry laborer. Randy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Randy married Mary Trower on January 18, 1990 in Lansing, KS; she survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Helen L. Charles
1931-2017

Helen L. Charles 85, Saint Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday June 28, 2017 in Saint Joseph. Born December 24, 1931 in Clay County, Missouri daughter of the late Reba & Melvin Thomson. Her family would like to thank the staff at Diversacare and Mosaic Life Care Hospice for their wonderful assistance to our aunt. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister, and her husband, Jesse Lee Charles, She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Cremation under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. The inurnment will be with her husband at the Lawson Cemetery, Lawson, MO.

Ronald “Curly” Lee Grubb
1937-2017

Ronald Lee “Curly” Grubb 80, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Saint Joseph, MO health care center. He was born June 20, 1937 in Lebanon, PA, son of the late Dorothy and Delbert Grubb. He served in the United States Navy, and owned and operated a Muffler shop in Fontana, CA. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald Lee Grubb, brothers, James, Tom, and Junior, sisters Adella Tiller, Betty Grubb, wife, Mary June Grubb. Survivors include, daughters, Sheila Anders, Canyon, TX, Julie Villnow, Sheridan, AK, Dorothy Simmons, Fayettville, AK, and Debbie Landers of GA, son, Bradley Grubb of CA., sisters, Nancy Scott, Janice McCulloch, Rita Criss, Mildred Suan.
There will be a private visitation for family, then Mr. Grubb will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home. The inurnment will be with his wife at the Green Acres Memorial Park Cemetery, Bloomington, California.

Alexander Jacob “AJ” Moore
1991-2017

Alexander Jacob “AJ” Moore, born into this world July 13, 1991. Reborn through the waters of Holy Baptism September 2, 1991. Confirmed in his faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ March 20, 2005. Called to his heavenly home, June 28, 2017.
AJ was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bud Moore and uncle, Chris Harper. He is survived by his father and mother, Rev. David and Michelle Moore; brothers, Patrick Herman and Sam Moore; sister, Zoe Moore; grandparents, Zoe Moore and Rod & Mary Lou Strahm; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece.
Funeral Service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sunday July 2, 2017, 3:00 p.m. Visitation at Meierhoffer Funeral & Crematory Saturday July 1, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

George W. McMullen, Jr.
1936-2017


George W. McMullen, Jr., 81, of Osage City, died Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born March 29, 1936 in Topeka, the son of George W. McMullen, Sr. and Bertha Morris McMullen. He graduated from Denison High School.

George served in the U.S. Army for seventeen years where he was a heavy equipment mechanic. After his retirement from the military he worked as a fork lift mechanic for various companies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Larry McMullen, Gerald McMullen and James McMullen, and three sisters, Roseann McMullen, June Lux and Lois Green.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Brown and wife Rebecca, Meriden and Terry Brown and wife Tara, Austin, TX; a daughter, Diana Brown, DeKalb, IL; three brothers, Richard McMullen, Denison, Robert McMullen, in California and Leland McMullen, Osage City; one sister, Bonnie Dean, Ottawa, IL; six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to a V.F.W. Post of the donor’s choice, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, 66436.

Patricia Rose “Pat” Boos
1932-2017

After a long hard fight against renal cancer, Patricia (Pat) Rose Boos, 84, of Severance, KS, passed on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

Pat was born at Sisters Hospital in St. Joseph, MO, on September 26, 1932, to Frank and Mary Teresinski Derks. She grew up in St. Joseph, where she was a graduation of the Convent of the Sacred Heart High School.

At the age of 14, she started working with her Dad at Shay & Derks Live Stock Commission Company and worked there until she started her family. She was a member of the Kansas State Nursing Board for 8 years, on the school board for 8 years, and was also a Watershed Board member.

She attended church at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Severance until it closed and then was a lifetime member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Bendena.

She married Donald Joseph Boos, on July 11, 1953, at St. James Catholic Church in St. Joseph and lived on Boos Farms the rest of her life. Don passed away March 29, 2001, after 48 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Kim Boos Anderson, and son-in-law Bill Spinks.

Survivors include her children: Cindy Miles of Olathe, KS, Debby (Dave) Harrington of Overland Park, KS, Donnie (Mary) Boos of Severance, Jim (Robbin) Boos of Ellisville, MO, and Steve (Kim) Boos of Severance; 14 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Rita Brown of Port Lucie, FL; brother in law Clarence (Bud) Boos, sister in law Pat Boos, of Denton; sister in law Jay Hamilton of Topeka; with many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church at Bendena, at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, with Father Francis Bakyor officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland. Family will receive friends following the rosary until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to NEK Hospice, the American Cancer Society, or St. Benedict’s Women’s Council, which may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 33, Highland 66035.

Adrian Henry Sutton
1941-2017


Adrian Henry Sutton 75, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. He was born October 17, 1941 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Nadine and Adrian Sutton. He attended Benton High School, and served in the United States Army, he then joined the St. Joseph Fire Department, retireing after 30 years of service as Fire Captain. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most importantly he was devoted to his family and took great pride in each and everyone of them. He was a member of Firefighter Local #77 and a Christian. Adrian was preceded in death by wife, Shirley Sutton, February 16, 2017, his parents, brothers, Frankie and Larry Sutton, and a sister, Sharon Sutton. Survivors include, three children: Adriana Sutton (Jerry Mahler), King City, MO, Deborah Chambers (Maford Stevenson), and David (Jolene) Sutton both of St. Joseph, MO, 6 grandchildren: Johnathan Gust, Dorinda Chambers, Amber Nuding, Sidney Stevenson, Tyler Guess, and Tom Sutton, sisters, Dixie Bloomer, and Wilma Sutton both of San Diego, CA and 7 great granchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
