FAUCETT, Mo. – The demolition of the Route DD bridge over Interstate 29 in Buchanan County at Faucett (Exit 35) has been rescheduled. The bridge, built in 1958, will be rebuilt by contractors from Emery Sapp and Sons of Columbia, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation. As part of the project, they will also reconstruct the ramps.

Originally scheduled to begin the evening of Aug. 4, 2017, the demolition of the old bridge has been rescheduled for the weekend of Aug. 26. For safety reasons, no traffic will be permitted under the bridge during demolition. Interstate traffic will be narrowed to one lane in each direction, beginning the evening of Aug. 25 at approximately 7 p.m. All traffic will be routed up and over the on and off ramps at the exit and around the bridge demolition.

During demolition, only through interstate traffic will be allowed on the ramps. To ensure that interstate traffic flows as smoothly as possible, no access to or from Route DD will be permitted during this portion of the project. This traffic pattern could remain in place for 24 hours or more. Motorists will experience delays and may want to consider using an alternate route.

As part of this project the ramps at this location will undergo reconstruction. The contractor plans to begin ramp work after the Labor Day holiday. Only one direction (northbound or southbound) will be closed at a time. During both sets of ramp closures, at least one lane each direction on I-29 will remain open for through traffic.

The new bridge should be completed and open to all traffic within 90 days, weather permitting. During the demolition, ramp closures and bridge closure signs will be in place to direct motorists to an alternate route.
