Several animals taken from home after call from concerned citizen

St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue took several animals from a St. Joseph home on Monday.

According to St. Joseph Animal Shelter Humane Educator Jenna Keyes, Animal Control received a call in the afternoon from a concerned citizen.

“They were concerned for the welfare of the animals on the property,” Keyes said. “Our officers got to the property, they as well had concerns. Upon further investigation, getting into the home, we did end up impounding several animals which are now at the shelter.”

Keyes said the owner did sign a release on all the animals.

“So those animals are now in our possession and we’re just working hard to get them back to healthy, getting them in good condition, so we are working on getting them all checked out by a veterinarian,” Keyes said. “Once they have passed through health and behavior inspections, then we will go and look toward adopting those animals out.”

Keyes said they are not yet sure on the total number of animals found at the house but they took in several cats, dogs and smaller pets including reptiles.
