The St. Joseph Police Department said a father was accidentally shot and killed by his 4-year-old child Sunday.

Capt. Jeff Wilson said officers responded to the 2600 block of Mary St. Sunday night. A 40-year-old man was found deceased in the residence.

Wilson said the incident was a tragic accident.
