Patrol said alcohol contributed to Nodaway County crash

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said alcohol played a part in a crash that sent a man to the hospital Sunday in Nodaway County.

According to a crash report, Miguel Hernandez, 53 of Texas was driving a 2007 Toyota Tundra shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday on 180th St. at Apollo Trail when the crash took place. The patrol said Hernandez’s vehicle went off the road, collided with a fence post and then hit a tree. The patrol said Hernandez was found to be intoxicated. He was transported by ambulance to St. Francis for treatment of what was described as a moderate injury.

According to online court documents, Hernandez is charged in Nodaway County with a Class-E felony of DWI.

The patrol said he was not reported to be wearing a seat belt.
