Rex T. Jones
1944-2017

Rex T. Jones, 73, Stewartsville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at his home.
He was born August 15, 1944 in Clearmont, Missouri to Lloyd and Ethel (Snodderley) Jones.
Rex married Judy on June 18, 1966, she survives of the home.
He was a city truck driver and warehouseman for Affiliated Foods before retiring in 1998. He was also a member of Teamsters 460. Rex and Judy managed the Tri-County Live Stock Auction Café since 1997. He was a hard worker, always provided for his family and was of Christian faith.
Rex loved to fish; was always going to catch the Big One, he enjoyed his cattle and ‘hiding out’ at Dick’s Bait Shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Richard Allen Jones, Jr.; sisters, Donna Williams, Fern Graham; brothers, Lowell Jones, Neil Jones; and foster son, Jim Claypool that passed away January 1, 2017.
Additional survivors include sons, Randy Jones (Diane), Richard Jones (Kayci), Stewartsville, Missouri; brothers, Max Jones (Polly), Allen Jones (Jessica), Clearmont, Missouri; grandchildren, Hudson, James, River, and Aynjewel (Angel).
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Kerns-Freeman Cemetery, Easton, Missouri. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Marguerite Louise Francis
1918-2017

Marguerite Louise Francis, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, at home.
She was born December 6, 1918, in St. Joseph to Charles Joseph Heiney and Louise Rosella Sommers.
Marguerite married Harry U. Francis December 1, 1938. He preceded her in death November 29, 1990.
Marguerite was a nursing technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Marguerite was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, the Ladies of Charity, the Daughters of Isabella, and St. Ann’s Altar Society.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Dennis, William, and Robert Francis; brother, William Heiney; and sisters, Catherine Heath and Dorothy O’Dell.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn Ellis, John Francis (Vicky), Richard “Tom” Francis (Billie), Mary Jo Ward (Larry), Harriet Chern (Rick), Carol Veraguth (John), Jim Francis (Lila), Helen Bruce (Terry), Harry Francis (Sue), and Pat Francis (Cheryl); daughters in law, Paula Bokay, Donna Francis, and Vicki Francis; sisters, Irene Hainline and Ann Conroy (Marion); sister in law, Dixie Vincent; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:30 to 8:00 P.M., with Rosary at 6:00 P.M., Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Linda Susan Shoots
1949-2017


Linda Susan Shoots, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 27, 1949 in St. Joseph, MO to Howard and Olive (Martin) Guinn.
Linda married Melvin Shoots, Jr. June 25, 1971, he survives of the home.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, decorating and crossword puzzles. Linda loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Darlene Ellis; brothers, Howard Raymond Guinn, Jr. and Danny Ray Guinn.
Additional survivors include sons, Chris Shoots and wife Lisa, Greg Shoots and wife Amy; grandchildren, Riley, Hadyn, Logan and Cody Shoots; sisters, Velma Pendleton, Sharon Karr, Gloria, Mary and Carolyn Guinn.

Nancy R. Liechti
1955-2017


ELWOOD,KS – Nancy R.(Goodwin) Liechti, 62, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her home.

Nancy was born on March 7, 1955 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Frank and Cecelia (Pasek) Goodwin.

She was of strong faith and a lover of the Lord. Nancy graduated Benton High School in 1973. She was a member of the Our Lady of Guadelupe Church of St. Joseph. Nancy was a proud Marine mother, worked as nurses aide at Colonial Manor for 6 years until she had her son, then stayed at home with him. She worked at the Dairy Barn for over 15 years, previously a member of the Elwood School Board, EMT volunteer and volunteer with Elwood School reading program. Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and grand babies, reading her Bible, other books and watching Royals and Chiefs games.

Nancy married her high school sweetheart of 40 years, Dennis Liechti on March 12, 1977 in Elwood, Kansas. He survives of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jerry Dean Porter
1935-2017


Jerry Dean Porter, 81, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home in St. Joseph. He was born October 7, 1935 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Vera and Opal Porter. He graduated from Benton High School in 1955. He worked at AGP for several years. He was a United States Marine. He enjoyed dance classes, dancing, bowling, and when he was younger he liked to hunt and fish. He also liked going to car shows and playing the organ. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by 2 sisters, Betty Jean Klepees, St. Joseph, MO and Virginia Gerber, a niece, Bette (Terry) Munger, St. Joseph, MO, and several other nieces and nephews. Memorial Service: 7:00 pm Thursday, September 28, 2017, Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Thomas R VanHouton
1958-2017

Thomas R. VanHouton, 59, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born February 16, 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Janice & Donald Van Houton. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny Van Houton. He is survived by his siblings, Diana Riggs, Billy Van Houton, and Ronnie VanHoutan. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
