The St. Joseph City Council has approved an emergency ordinance to repair the towers on the Missouri Theater.
According to Public Works and Transportation Director Andy Clements, who spoke at the City Council meeting, during a tuckpointing project several months ago on the Missouri Theater, significant deterioration was found on the towers.
An emergency ordinance was brought to the City Council and was approved at last night’s meeting. The bill authorized an amendment to the Capital Projects Fund budget to spend an estimated $532,000 to provide major restoration to the Missouri Theater facade. As previously reported, City Manager Bruce Woody said work will begin as soon as possible.
The Missouri Theater located at 717 Edmond St., first opened in 1927.
