Lafayette’s Bernard signs to play basketball at Northwest Missouri State

Lafayette senior Diego Bernard made it official on Wednesday as he signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Northwest Missouri State.

Bernard has started since his freshman season for the Fighting Irish and last year averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He helped lead Lafayette to the state championship game his sophomore year and to the district title game last season.

Bernard will join a Northwest team that is currently 2-0 on the season and ranked No. 1 in the nation after winning the national championship last year.

Bernard and his Irish teammates will take part in the City Jamboree at City Arena Friday and they tip off their regular season next Tuesday at Winnetonka.
