CLAY COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 10:30p.m. Wednesday in Clay County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Ford passenger vehicle driven by Nicole M. Shields, 40, Kearney, was westbound on Mo. 92 just west of Route RA.

The vehicle hit a pedestrian identified as Theresa M. Smith, 33, Liberty, who was walking down the center of the road.  Smith was transported to Liberty Hospital where she died.

The accident remains under investigation.
