Man jailed for theft of ambulance from Grundy County hospital

GRUNDY COUNTY— The Trenton Missouri Police Department is investigating the theft of a Grundy County Ambulance.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 2016 Ford, F450, Grundy County Ambulance was stolen while it was parked at  Wright Memorial Hospital, according to Police Chief Tommy Wright.

Based on the investigation and eyewitnesses, the ambulance was stolen by a male subject from Trenton who had been seeking medical treatment at the hospital. The suspect exited the emergency room, entered the ambulance and then drove away.

The ambulance was later recovered by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office in a remote, southeastern portion of Grundy County.

The suspect was located in the area of the ambulance and taken into custody without incident. The suspect is being held on a 24 hour hold in the Grundy County Jail and charges are being sought. The suspect will be identified after charges are filed.
