LAWRENCE, Kan. – Griffon Track and Field athletes broke two school records, set four new personal records and had a top-five finish on day one of the Kansas Relays.
Jordan Garr took fifth in the shot put with a 51-6 (15.70m) throw. Garr was the highest finishing freshman and was third among MIAA competitors in the event.
Kelsey Cox’s PR and school reocrd (11:52.86) in the steeplechase was good for 11th place. Megan Gillen broke the program record in the 1,500m with a 4:57.28 that placed her 10th. Claire Reedy was 15th in the event, with a personal-record 5:01.33. Mariah Lynn Smith set a PR with a 2:23.71 in the 800m.
Competition for the Griffons continues Friday at the 91st Annual Kansas Relays.
