Warm and breezy today with chance of storms overnight

Another warm early May day is expected today with highs in the low to mid 80s. This evening a cold front will approach the area with the chance for strong to isolated severe storms to develop ahead of it. Wind gusts 40-50 MPH will be possible with isolated gusts to 60 MPH as well as dime to nickel-sized hail with isolated quarter-sized hail. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 85. West northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 86. South wind 5 to 11 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Breezy.

Friday Night: A chance of showers after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 73.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
