CENTERVIEW, Mo. (AP) – Authorities say a suspected drunken driver has crashed a minivan into a school bus that was taking students home from a track meet.
The Kansas City Star reports that eight Grandview High School students were taken to hospitals with injuries that didn’t appear to be life threatening after the Saturday night crash on U.S. 50 in Johnson County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the minivan driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after fleeing on foot.
School district officials said on their Facebook page that the bus was traveling from a district track meet at Holden High School. District officials said they are “grateful” that none of the injuries appear to be serious
