MORGAN COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 5:30pm. Saturday in Morgan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1996 Chevy 1500 driven by Donald R. Kemper, 24, Columbia, was westbound on Ritchie Road just west of Route T.  The vehicle lost traction in a curve. The driver overcorrected. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck a fence and a tree.

A passenger James R. Dinkins, 26, Versailles, was transported to University Hospital where he died.

Kemper refused medical attention and had not been wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.  Dinkins seatbelt usage was unknown.
