MILLER COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 2p.m. Monday in Miller County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2006 International semi driven by Greg E. Mathis, 46, Oak Ford, IL., was northbound on Highway 17 just north of Saline Road.  The semi crossed the center line and was struck by a 1994 Mack Dump Truck driven by Jonathan L Hensley, 35, Clarksburg.

The semi’s load of logs became unsecured and they began falling on the roadway.  Logs struck a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Franklin Alford, 76, Harrison, WV, and forced it off the right side of the road where it struck a tree and a fence.

The logs also struck a 2018 Nissan Versa driven by Seth C. Graves, 44, Ft. Leonard Wood, on the southbound side of the road.

Alford was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Millard Funeral Home in Eldon. Authorities reported no other injuries.
