SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – A former Stone County deputy has been sentenced to 120 days in jail and probation for a deadly hit-and-run crash in Springfield last year.

41-year-old Shawn Bouley, of Reeds Spring, was sentenced Friday after he admitted to fatally hitting 45-year-old Bradley Bizzle with his car on Jan. 22, 2017, and then fleeing the scene.

Bizzle died at a hospital. Bouley’s car was found the next day. Investigators say Bouley told them he was “drunk” or “buzzed” and was aware that he had hit something, but that he didn’t stop because he was scared. Prosecutors say that since Bouley wasn’t found until the day after the crash, there was no physical evidence of intoxication.

Bouley was a jail deputy in Stone County at time of the crash. He was also once a Reeds Spring police officer.
