3 dead after 3-vehicle Missouri head-on crash

AUDRAIN COUNTY — Three people died in an accident just after 2p.m. Thursday in Audrain County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Kierra T. Gilspie, 24, Justice, IL., was eastbound on U.S. 54 two miles south of Loddonia.

The Chevy was attempting to pass a 2014 Freighliner semi driven by Roby E. Sharp, 50, Liberty, Illinois. The Chevy struck a 2008 Mercury Mariner driven by Douglas W. Turner, 75, Licking, head-on.  The Mariner then pushed into the semi.

Turner and a passenger in the Mariner Helen J. Turner, 72, Licking, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Chevy Kyreoin, 18, Justice, IL., was transport to the hospital in Mexico where he died. Kierra Gilspie was transported to University Hospital in Columbia.  Sharp was not injured.

The occupants of the Chevy were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.
