COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri dog seen being abused in a video is getting a new home.

26-year-old Leishi Tang, of Columbia, voluntarily surrendered her former pet Corgi, named Rou Rou, during a hearing Thursday. Tang is free on bond while awaiting trial on animal abuse charges. Tang was arrested in June after police received reports that a video of the dog’s beating had been posted on the Chinese social media site WeChat.
Rou Rou initially was returned to Tang, but Columbia police and animal control later served a warrant to reclaim the animal.
Tang’s attorney, Ben Faber, says the dog can now find a new home. Central Missouri Humane Society spokeswoman Michelle Casey says a family already has come forward to adopt the dog.
