Rain will begin to increase in both coverage and intensity this morning and continue through much of the day and continuing through early Sunday, especially across central and eastern Missouri where total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches will be common. Portions of the east-central Missouri could see upwards of 4 to 6 inches of rainfall by Sunday morning. Flash flooding concerns are high given already saturated ground from recent rain events. In addition to flash flooding, river flooding will become a concern as already high rivers receive additional runoff. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 69. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 61. Northeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A chance of showers before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Northeast wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. North northeast wind 6 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northeast wind around 7 mph.
