(UPDATE) A Shawnee, Kansas, man died Friday after being injured in a rollover crash Wednesday night on I-29.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Larry K. Whittet died at 9:15 a.m. Friday.

The MSHP is asking anyone that may have seen the second vehicle involved in the crash or have any information about the crash to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 1-816-387-2345, or *55 from a cell telephone.

A driver was seriously injured and another driver fled the scene in a two vehicle crash in Buchanan County Wednesday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, 60-year-old Larry K. Whittet of Shawnee, Kansas, was driving a Ram 1500 south on I-29 at mile marker 48.8 near St. Joseph. Another vehicle was southbound and the two vehicles collided.

Whittet’s vehicle skidded, went off the west side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned. The other vehicle skidded to a stop in the road, then left the scene.

Whittet was transported to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of serious injuries.

According to the crash report, he was wearing a seatbelt.
