Temps near 50 today and Christmas Day, rain likely overnight

Above normal temps will persist through much of the week. Light rain is possible tonight, and will taper off Christmas morning. Additional rainfall is expected by Wednesday through Friday, while rainfall totals will average around 1 inch across the local area. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: A chance of sprinkles after 5 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 49. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Rain likely, possibly mixing with snow after midnight, then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a low around 33. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 6 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. East wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: Showers. High near 48. East southeast wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Showers. Low around 45. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers. High near 54. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 37.
