Rainy today with temps near 50

Rain showers return today, and will become moderate to heavy at times this evening. Winds will also increase this evening through the overnight hours, making travel most difficult after sunset. Precipitation will taper off Thursday, leaving behind seasonable travel conditions Friday. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service: 

Today: Showers. High near 50. East southeast wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers. Low around 49. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. South southeast wind 13 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. West northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 31. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 26.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 40.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40.

Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.

New Year’s Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.
