Wind Chill Advisory in effect tonight until noon Wednesday

Dangerously cold wind chills are expected tonight through Thursday as arctic air overspreads the region. Wind chill values as low as 35 degrees below zero will be possible across northern Missouri tonight, with values approaching -20 degrees south of the Missouri River. Fortunately, these cold temperatures will be short lived as warmer air begins to move into the area on Thursday. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: A chance of flurries before 4 p.m., then a chance of flurries after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 18 by 9 a.m., then falling to around 9 during the remainder of the day. Wind chill values between -6 and 4. North northwest wind 9 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Wind chill values between -14 and -24. North northwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: A chance of flurries. Increasing clouds and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values between -14 and -24. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 1. Wind chill values between -4 and -9. East southeast wind 5 to 8 mph.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. East southeast wind 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 50.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
