Gerald E. “Jerry” Rathgeber
1937 – 2019

Gerald E. “Jerry” Rathgeber, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.
He was born May 30, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.
Jerry married Twila Schottel August 31, 1984. She survives of the home.
He was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, St. Joseph, Missouri and Leesburg Methodist Church in Florida.
Jerry enjoyed playing golf, was a car enthusiast, and a very active member of church.
He worked in sales and management, retiring from Yellow Freight in the St. Louis Regional office in 1997. After retirement, Jerry and Twila moved to Leesburg, Florida for eight years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara (Miller) Rathgeber.
Additional survivors include son, Scott Rathgeber (Debbie); daughter, Sheralyn Hulse (Mark) grandson, Trace Finlay; brother, Edmond Rathgeber, Robins, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Debra Kay Grace
1952 – 2019

Debra Kay Grace, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.
She was born May 24, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Debra dearly loved her pets and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Nancy (Murphy) Hughes.
Survivors include sister, April Wells; niece, Erin Cassity (Charley); nephew, Blaine Wells; 2 great nieces; 1 great nephew; aunt, Mary Ann Kobett.

Grace E. Morehouse
1929 – 2019

Grace E. Morehouse, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born January 6, 1929 in Parnell, MO.
Grace married Francis Auffert and they were later divorced; he preceded her in death. She married James Morehouse in April of 1978; he also preceded her in death.
Grace was the owner of Starlight Café in Bedford, Iowa for 2 years and owner of Country Peddler Craft Business for 25 years.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and sewing.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Viola (Ross) Messner; son, James Morris Auffert; sisters, Joanne Messner and Valda Jean Kauffman.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Smith (Mike), son, Francis Eugene Auffert (Teresa); daughter-in-law, Laura Auffert; step-sons, Joe Morehouse (Kristi), Steve Morehouse; grandchildren, Ryan Auffert, Robyn Munce (Don); several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, MO. Friends may call after 9:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Janice R. Halter
1937 – 2019

Janice R. Halter, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, February 4, 2019, after a long battle with lung disease.
She was born April 14, 1937 in Galt, MO.
Janice married Vincent Halter on November 30, 1957; he survives of the home.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Vesta (McElfresh) Moore.
Additional survivors include her daughter, Deborah Halter-Park; sons, Mark Halter (Lynn), Gregg Halter; granddaughters, Samantha Halter, Molly Hudson (Cody); great-grandson, Boston Hudson; brother, George Moore, St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Marge Hoga, Woodland, TX, Carol Veselich, Kansas City, MO, and Linda Farrell (Bob), Savannah, MO.
Graveside Farewell Services and Interment 3:00 P.M. Friday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Autism Alliance of Northwest Missouri.

 

Carol Jean Silvey
1944 – 2019

Carol Jean Silvey, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.
She was born January 4, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Carol married Lonnie Ray Silvey July 26, 1968. He survives of the home.
She was a member of Trinity United Brethren Church.
Carol enjoyed camping and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildrens extra-curricular activities.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Kendall; parents, Carl and Mary (Hiskey) Banks; mother and father-in-law, Clifford and Helen Silvey.
Additional survivors include daughter, Paula Corkins; son, Jeff Silvey (Linda Roberts); grandchildren, Becky Carter (Jeff), James McGuire, Andrea Grippando (Dusty), Alec Silvey (Lynsey), Gage Bigham, Ryan Silvey (Tierra); 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Shellenberger, Rosie Schiltz (Tom); numerous nieces and nephews.

Walter H. Lewis
1952 – 2019

Walter H. “Wally” Lewis, 66, Elwood, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
He was born November 6, 1952.
Wally married Linda S. Reynolds on April 17, 1976; she survives of the home.
He was a 1970 graduate of Elwood, High School. Wally worked at Boehringer Ingelheim for 30 years.
Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, especially the Chiefs and loved music and antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty (Graves) Lewis; uncles, Jim Wells, Bob Graves.
Additional survivors include son, Scott Lewis; sisters, Sharon Patterson (David), Georgia Mae Martinez (Manny); aunt, Dona Wells; father-in-law, Wayne Reynolds, Sr.; cousins, Joyce Schmidt, George Losack; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
