Bednar’s complete game shutout leads Mustangs past Jeff City 2-0

The St. Joseph Mustangs traveled to Jefferson City Sunday and picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over the Renegades.

It’s the third straight win for St. Joe’s collegiate baseball team as they improve to 14-4 and 12-3 in the MINK League.

Mustangs’ starter Cam Bednar, who was named the MINK League Pitcher of the Week last week, threw a complete game shutout as he allowed just four hits. Bednar struck out 10 and walked two batters.

Both St. Joseph runs came from catcher J.P. Tighe as he hit his first home run of the season in the third and added a two-out RBI single in the fourth.

Terrance Spurlin had two hits for the Mustangs as well and he scored the other St. Joe run.

The Mustangs are off until Wednesday when they play a non-league game against the North Kansas City Apartments at 7:00 p.m. inside Phil Welch Stadium.
