InterServ is expanding at its Mitchell Woods Early Care and Education facility. To celebrate, they’re planning a Grand Re-Opening and blessing at the facility at 4pm July 31. The newly remodeled “new infants room” will increase accommodations for infants in the center by 12, while also increasing the capacity of the community to care for babies up to two years of age.
Historically, there has been a lack of affordable child care for infants, with long waiting lists at most centers in the area. As one of the first child care providers for families in St. Joseph beginning in 1909, Interfaith Community Services continues to assess the child and youth care needs of the community and develop additional programming and space to meet those needs.
Parts of a short agenda are a welcome by Mike Niewald, current InterServ Board President, followed by a blessing by Dr. Scott Killgore, pastor at Wyatt Park Christian Church and a ribbon cutting presented by the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Diplomats.
Mitchell Woods is located at 5210 Mitchell Avenue in St. Joseph and cares for children ages 6-weeks to 5 years old.
