The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association football coaches picked Missouri Western fifth in their preseason poll, while MWSU was selected fifth in the preseason media poll.
Defending MIAA and National Champion, Northwest Missouri State was picked first in both polls. Pittsburg State was second in each.
Western finished the 2013 season 4th in the MIAA after going 8-3 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA.
The Griffons return 38 lettermen off the 2013 squad, including 19 starters.
Missouri Western opens the regular season Sept. 4 when they host Central Missouri.
