The St. Joseph Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with an early Sunday morning armed robbery.

SJPD Captain Jeff Wilson said a man wearing a clown mask walked into Wiedmaier Truck Stop just off of US Highway 169 in St. Joseph shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk.

The man was described as a white man around 5’5″, thin build wearing a gray shirt and jeans with a tattoo of a cross on the left side of his neck.

Police believe the robber was driving an early 2000 model White Dodge pickup.

A vehicle matching that description was later found in the area of 135 Countryside Lane engulfed in flames.

Capt. Wilson said no one was harmed during the robbery.
