The St. Joseph Fire Department will conduct its Second Annual Citizens Fire Academy starting next month. This is NOT a candidate school.
The Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings October 8, 2014 to November 5, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
You must apply by the end of the day Tuesday.
The classes will be taught by St. Joseph Fire Department personnel and will include: donning firefighter turnout gear, using a fire extinguisher, advancing a charged fire hose, auto extrication, CPR, and an overview and display of special rescue and duties conducted by the Department. They will also conduct tours of the St. Joseph Fire Museum and Communications Center.
Citizens wanting to apply must complete an application, be 18 years of age or older, in good physical condition, able to lift 30 pounds, be a resident of St. Joseph or live in one of the fire protections districts covered by the St. Joseph Fire Department, and will be subject to a background investigation.
