The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run for St. Joseph will take place on Tuesday May 24th. The run will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the City Aquatic Park and will end at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall. This year officers will also be running in memory of Officer Dan De Kraai who was killed in the line of duty September 15, 2010.
This year Special Olympics celebrates its 40th year. In 1986 the Missouri Police Chief’s Association endorsed the first Torch Run in Missouri. This run began with less than 100 runners and now has over 1,006 runners and covers 1,000 miles for Special Olympics.
