Standoff Ends, Shooter Found Dead

Daviess County Sheriff's BadgeAfter a lengthy standoff authorities found a man dead in a home near McFall, Missouri Monday night. Officials had tracked the man to the house based on a tip about a body found in a burning home in Trenton, Missouri on Sunday.

Trenton police identified the man as David Call, 50, of Kansas City, Mo. Call was charged Monday with murder, arson, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He apparently opened fire on law officers when they arrived at the home east of McFall.

A standoff ensued, but after several hours, officers lost contact with the man. A SWAT team entered the home and found Call dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation into the fire in Trenton continues, including efforts to identify the body found inside.
