Agency that regulates Mo. real estate pros gets rated

realty home saleJEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich  has given an “excellent” rating to the agency that regulates the state’s real estate profession.

A state audit released Thursday of the Missouri Real Estate Commission found no significant deficiencies. The “excellent” rating is the highest possible on Schweich’s scale.

The commission was established under a 1941 law and is responsible for licensing and regulating people working in the real estate field. The audit says there are more than 40,000 licensed real estate brokers, salespeople and firms in Missouri.

The commission has an annual budget of a little more than $1 million.
