Veteran’s Day Parade Cancelled due to cold

The St. Joseph Veterans Day Parade has been cancelled off due to cold weather.

John Minton with Missouri Legion District 4 said because of the wind chill finding warm weather clothing for the young ROTC members to wear during the parade was a concern.

“Other poeple might have the cold weather gear to handle this stuff but we called it,” said Minton.

The high this afternoon is anticipated to only reach that freezing mark of 32-degrees by the National Weather Service. Unfortunately, wind chills will be around 20 to 9.

Minton said the Parade is not being reschedules however, a Veteran’s Day dinner is still on today at the Armory.

He expects around 50 veterans in attendance at the event this evening.

Minton said it’s the first time the Parade has had to be called in at least seven years.

“We don’t have the parade and that’s unfortunate,” said Minton.
