Snowy commute keeps officers busy

SJSD with snow distantArea law enforcement officials say there are a lot of problems on area roadways, as folks gear up for the drive to work on roads covered with snow.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, there are quite a few slide-off accidents on I-29 south of St Joseph, between here and Faucett. Troopers were also working a number of slide-off wrecks on 71-highway between Maryville and Savannah.

St Joseph Police reiterated the warning about driving south of St Joseph on I-29.  They’re warning us about the area near mile marker 39.4, the site of numerous slide-off accidents.

Sergeant James Langston says the overnight shift was a quiet one for officers, until just before six am, when dozens of wrecks happened.  Langston urges you to reduce speed, allow extra time and exercise caution during your morning commute. He says some of the side streets in St Joe have not yet been treated, and some of them are very slick. Langston says officers worked slide-off accidents on 6th Street, on I-29, and on 759-highway.

No injuries have been reported.
