Livingston County officials say an inmate, faced with the prospect of failing a drug test, asked a deputy to provide a urine sample.
According to news release from Sheriff Steve Cox, a judge ordered the inmate to provide a urine sample for drug testing last week. Deputy Chris Mueller was assigned to help complete the task.
Once the defendant and deputy were in the restroom and Deputy Mueller provided with specimen cup to the inmate, he handed it back to Deputy Mueller.
Mueller then explained he was not going to hold the cup for him. The defendant said he understood but instead asked Deputy Mueller to provide the sample, claiming that his was not going to be good.
In the words of Sheriff Cox: “Deputy Mueller declined the opportunity and the subsequent testing was allegedly positive for Methamphetamine, Opiates, and Marijuana.”
