KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – A 23-year-old woman has been charged with stabbing another woman to death at a midtown Kansas City apartment.

The Jackson County prosecutor’s office announced in a news release Sunday that Levolia R. Kelso faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 19-year-old Mikelle A. Green. It wasn’t immediately clear if Kelso had an attorney.

The probable cause statement says Green had sustained 12 injuries when police found her dead Saturday on the floor of Kelso’s apartment.

Kelso told police she had allowed Green to stay at her apartment Friday night but couldn’t get her to leave the next day. Kelso said she tried unsuccessfully to wrestle Green out of the apartment and then grabbed a knife and stabbed Green twice in the neck.
