Jury finds Kansas City man guilty of Christmas Eve murder

courtKANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A jury has found a Kansas City man guilty of second-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of a 22-year-old man.

The Kansas City Star  reports a Jackson County jury convicted Dalvin D. Johnson on Thursday in the death of Joseph T. Jones. His sentence hearing is scheduled for May 1.

Johnson and Adrian M. Botello, along with two juveniles, planned to rob Jones. Johnson shot Jones after a confrontation on Christmas Eve 2011.

Botello pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Jones’ death and is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday.
