Bearcats win game two of series with Lindenwood

The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team beat Lindenwood University on Friday at Bearcat Field, 6-2.

The win moves Northwest to 17-16 overall and 12-10 in MIAA play. Lindenwood falls to 16-17 overall and 8-10 in conference action.

Northwest scored single runs in six of the game’s eight innings.

Nikko Pablo got the complete game victory, striking out seven batters while allowing just three walks and two runs.

Paul Johnson went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. He also stole his sixth base of the season.  Steven Garber was 2-for-4 and he hit his third home run of the season in the third inning.

Kevin Handzlik was 2-for-3 on the day with a double, while Kolby Greenslade was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double. He also drew a walk.

The Bearcats and the Lions will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon. Both games will be seven-inning contests. Northwest will also be hosting Military Day. The Missouri National Guard will have free hot dogs, hamburgers and t-shirts while supplies last. The team will wear camo uniforms and military equipment will be at the game.
