A judge on Thursday sentenced a St Joseph man to ten years in prison for assaulting a pregnant woman last December.
Devontra Hughes pleaded guilty last month to two counts of domestic assault. Investigators said Hughes forced the woman into a car, punched her in the face and stomach, and threatened to kill the unborn baby.
Hughes crashed the vehicle, and the victim was able to run for help.
On Thursday Circuit Court Judge Daniel Kellogg ordered two consecutive five-year prison terms.
