ST. JOSEPH – Missouri Western men’s golfer Corey Knight (Jr., Avondale, Ariz.) was rewarded for his play during his first campaign as a Griffon as he was selected for the 2015 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Central/Midwest Regional as announced by the committee on Friday.
Knight becomes the first Griffon since 2008 to advance to NCAA regional play. This years regional will be held at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club May 4-6 in Lemont, Illinois hosted by Lewis University.
Knight competed in ten events (24 rounds) this season with a scoring average of 75.1 finishing in the top 10 of four events including a second place finish at the Brickyard Invitational in September and a third place finish at the Henderson State Classic earlier this month.
The top five teams and low two individuals not on an advancing team advance to the 2015 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, North Carolina May 18-22.
