Richard “Rick” Thomas Minnick
1939-2015

20150507-160048_MinnickRichardThomasfolderpicRichard “Rick” Thomas Minnick 75, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born August 15, 1939 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Thelma and Donald Minnick. He graduated from Spencer Iowa High School. He married Judy Miller on August 30, 1959 and they shared 57 years together. He worked the co-owner of Shirtworks. Rick was an avid sportsman, he liked to golf and snow mobiling. He loved Nascar and enjoyed wintering in Texas. He was a Christian. Rick was preceded in death by daughter, Michele Byers, brother, Terry Minnick, and his parents. Survivors include, wife, Judy Minnick of the home, daughter, Robin Dailey of St. Joseph, MO, foster daughter, Marcia Hennis of AZ, son-in-law, Scott Byers, seven grandchildren: Christopher Carrigan, Jessica Gillispie, Devon Byers, Seth Daily, Samantha Mitchell, Katie Dailey, and Ashley Carrigan, 10 great grandchildren, and a brother, Donald (Sue) Minnick of Stevens Point, WI.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at The Edge Christian Fellowship the South Belt Highway location, with Pastor Scott Hawkins officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. James Orvan Wachtel
1925-2015

20150507-150234_WachatelJames.jpgfolerpicJames Orvan Wachtel 90, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday May 6, 2015 at a Saint Joseph health care center. He was born April 25, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Christina & James Wachtel. He graduated from Lafayette High School. Then joined the United States Navy and is a veteran of WW II, the Korean, and Vietnam wars, then retired after 19 1/2 years of service. While in service he participated in the Asia-Pacific theatre, the Philippine Liberation, China service, as well as the Asia-European naval service, and received many awards and citation with the service he performed. After the Navy he worked at Johnson Controls, and was a Bailiff for the Buchanan County Sheriffs department. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and family gatherings. James was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Sollars his 1st wife Bertha Irene Sutton of which he later divorced, 2nd wife Mary “Jo” Woods of which he married on February 18, 1958 in Belvedere, Il. Survivors include 5 children from his first marriage; Robert Kruck, Christina, Laura “Micky” (W.C.) Pence, Shirley, and Diane (Gary) Wells, four children from his second marriage, John (Lori) Wachtel of St. Joseph, MO, James (Pauline) Wachtel, Lou Ann Ellingson of Chesapeake, VA, and Michael Wachtel, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday (Tonight) at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Frances “Louise” Seever
1921-2015

Louise was born December 31, 1921 in St. Joseph to William Joseph and Stella (Scott) Daily.
She worked for J.C. Penney’s as a Sales Associate for over 12 years. Louise was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society and helped with Moila Shrine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, William Seever, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Louise married Marion Seever June 2, 1942 in Atchison, Kansas. He survives of the home.
Additional surviving family includes daughter, Anita (David) Radmer and son, Robert Seever, both of St. Joseph; sons, Richard Seever, Rocheport, Missouri; and Randall (Kathleen) Seever, Rochester Hills, Michigan; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rosary 7:00 PM Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will begin after 1:00 PM Friday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Moila Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Daisy Darlene (Brunner) Sayles
1920-2015

thumbsDaisy Darlene (Brunner) Sayles, 95, passed away on May 6, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO. She was born in Amazonia on April 20, 1920 to Gottifred & Elsa (Bezonia) Brunner. She married Ralph Sayles on January 2, 1945 in Troy KS and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1990.
Daisy was a homemaker who loved her children and family dinners. She was very involved at The Andrew County Senior Center. She enjoyed dancing and playing pitch.
She is survived three daughters; Joyce Benight of Faucett, MO, Janet & J.B. Phillippe of Savannah, and Jacqueline & Benjamin Boyer of Savannah; six grandchildren, Kim & Cindy Kennedy, Kelli & Sean Nelson, Ryan & Raychel Phillippe, Sarah Pedersen, Shaundrea Boyer, Slater Boyer, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law Susanna & Herman Siddens, and son-in-law Gus Benight.
Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 8, 2015 at Breit – Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be from 10:00-11:00am Friday May 8, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Savannah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to The Andrew County Senior Center.

Alma M. Simmons
1917 – 2015

thumbs (1)Alma May (Huff) Simmons, 97, St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at mosaic Life Care St. Joseph, MO. She was born in Grant City, MO on May 20, 1917 to Lester and Katie (Miller) Huff.
Alma married Hervey Simmons on January 13, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1989.
She was a great mother never complained lived life for her family and a great cook who every Sunday had fried chicken for dinner for the family,
Survivors include sons, Lester (Teresa) Simmons, Hervey (Alice) Simmons, Jr, both of St. Joseph, MO, and Harold (Sylvia) Simmons, Gower, MO; daughters, Kathryn (Ronnie) Sutton, Union Star, MO, Judie (Dennis) Atwood; Nancy (Mike) Simmons, both of St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Rose Harding, Grant City, MO; Helen Fish, Bethany, MO; fifteen grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margie McConahay; and brothers, Alvin, Burl, Dale, and Wade Huff.
Graveside Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO; Visitation and family receiving 6-8 PM, Friday, May 8, 2015 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to The American Cancer Society.
