Study ranks Savannah as one of the best towns to raise a family in Missouri

Savannah has been selected as one of the best towns in Missouri to raise a family in according to a new study.

The 2015 Niche Rankings places Savannah, Mo. at number 12 in the state for best towns to raise a family in.  It’s overall grade, B.

The top town to raise a family according to the study, Eureka, Mo.

Niche said it ranks towns based on a comprehensive assessment of family centered factors such as public education, safety, community involvement, and access to family necessities.

“Savannah is a midsize town in Missouri with 5,076 residents. It has very low home values, low rent costs, and average unemployment levels. Its citizens generally have average education levels and average income levels,” the study said.

Its median household income, $37,602.  An unemployment rate of 5.0%, below the National Average of 6.3%.

Niche rankings reports an average graduation rate of 87%, above the National Average of 81%.  Student-Teacher Ratio, 15:1.

St. Joseph, Mo. came in on the list at 42 out of 57. It earned a ranking of C+.

“St. Joseph is a small city in Missouri with 76,984 residents. It has very low home values, low rent costs, and average unemployment levels. Its citizens generally have average education levels and average income levels,” Niche reported.

The town rankings excluded suburbs and cities with over 100,000 residents.
