A passenger suffered serious injuries after a motorist fell asleep while driving along a Nodaway County road early Sunday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the driver, Joshua Wideman, 22, of Guilford, was charged with DWI, Careless and Imprudent Driving and 2nd Degree Assault for a DWI resulting in injuries.

Passenger Michael Medsker, 21, also of Guilford, suffered serious injuries when the pickup truck left Lion Avenue southwest of Guilford and overturned. Medsker was transported to St Francis for treatment. Wideman was not injured.
