Bearcat QB Christopher named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week a Northwest Missouri State quarterback was honored by the MIAA as Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 22 as selected by a conference panel.

Christopher threw for 406 yards after missing the two previous weeks helping the Bearcats cruise to a 52-28 win over Washburn. The senior completed 29 of 37 passes in the win and also led Northwest in rushing with 79 yards for 485 yards of total offense.

The Kearney native made big third down plays with his legs and arm to keep the chains moving against the Ichabods and also converted on fourth down twice. Christopher tossed three touchdowns and added another on the ground as he averaged 6.6 yards per carry.

The Bearcats who now stand at 7-1 on the season moved up to No. 4 in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll on Monday as well. Delta State held onto the top spot followed by Bloomsburg at No. 2. Pittsburg State moved up one spot to No.3 followed by the Bearcats as North Alabama rounds out the top five. Washburn fell to No. 12 as the only other MIAA team in the Top 25.
