John “Jay” Walter Rocha

John “Jay” Walter Rocha 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at his home. He was born October 9, 1958 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Eleise “Lisa” and Juan Rocha. He graduated from Benton high school. He worked at MetroWarehouse in Kansas City, MO. He is now safely home with his heavenly father who he loved dearly. He will be sadly missed by his family and co-workers. He was baptized at St. James Catholic Church. Jay was preceded in death by father, Juan Cruz Rocha, sister, Laura Leigh Rocha. Survivors include his mother, Eleise “Lisa” Loft of Saint Joseph, MO, two brothers, Timothy and Thomas “Tommy” Rocha of Saint Joseph, MO, daughter, Laura Rocha, aunt, Constance Bridgewater, Uncle and aunt, Arthur and Julia Rocha, nephew, Joshua Rocha, niece, Rylee Rocha, great-niece, Marah Rocha, cousin, Beth Neff, as well as numerous other cousins. .

Brenda Sue (Stroud) Shtohryn
1949-2015
Brenda Sue (Stroud) Shtohryn, 66, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born March 23, 1949 to Virgil Brick and Frances (Gelvin) Stroud in Craig, Missouri. She was the youngest of five children.
Brenda married Zenon Jim Shtohryn on March 29, 1974, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2011.
She graduated from Nodaway Holt RVII High School in Graham, MO in 1967. After graduation she worked for Rother Grain Elevator in Maitland for many years. She moved to St. Joseph in the early 70s and worked at American Electric for several years until the company down-sized. She was currently employed at American Angus Association in St. Joseph.
Brenda was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 25 years old and successfully managed the disease for many years. She underwent a stem-cell transplant in 1996. The disease reoccurred in 2014, and she lost a courageous battle as a result of complications from treatment.
was a kind, sweet, and loving person known for her humor, generosity, and artistic spirit. She loved spending time with her family, drinking hot tea, reading, and exploring her creative side. Some of the artistic skill she developed over the years included painting, needle point, stained glass lamp shades, and Ukranian pysanky Easter eggs. At work, she delivered gifts to her co-workers as a secret Santa for years until she was discovered one morning.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Stroud (1951); father, Brick Stroud (1984); and brother, Jim, (2014).
Survivors include sisters, Rena Gard, Maitland; Ray (Linda) Stroud, Shirley (ONeil) Long, Mound City; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; her beloved pets Zoey and Scooter; and many friends and co-workers.
